Brexit, which is a term that is portmanteau of the words Britain and exit, means the withdrawal of United Kingdom from European Union. The referendum held in July 2016, which 51, 9% of the votes were in favor of leaving EUofficially confirmed the start of the withdrawal process. By the end of March 2017, the new prime minister Theresa May, who came to power after the resignation of David Cameron, stated that UK have the intention to invoke Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union, the formal procedure of withdrawal. If everything goes according to British plans, there is a strong possibility for UK to leave the EU by the end of March 2019.
Despite the fact that Theresa May expressed that “Brexit means Brexit”, there are two popular and crucial subjects that are being debated a lot, one of which is that how Britain firms operate in the European Union whereas the other topic is that what curbs are brought about the rights of European Union nationals to work and live in the United Kingdom. There is no doubt to say that multiple topics except the two abovementioned will be on the negotiation table in order to be discussed and to be solved.
It is known that the government of UK set up a department for Brexit consists of David Davis, Liam Fox and Boris Johnson whom are expected to play crucial roles in the negotiations. On the other hand, how European Union will play its hand is another point which is highly wondered. After all, little time left for the start of the chess game with full of mind tricks.
